Opened in 1959 on LA’s famed Restaurant Row, The Islander was a classic mid-century tiki bar known for its exotic cocktails, bamboo décor, and Polynesian floor shows. It was a prime example of the postwar tiki craze that swept Southern California, serving up rum fueled escapism with a side of kitsch.
